What quality assurance looks like at PAYSTRAX?

Quality isn’t something you can slap on at the end, but rather something that’s built into the everyday. It shows up early, in small decisions, and keeps showing up as things move forward.

We asked PAYSTRAX Quality Assurance Specialists Ugnė Kavaliauskaitė from the Operations and Gintarė Guokaitė from the Risk department to share what their day-to-day looks like. They work in different areas, but they both treat quality as an ongoing process. Let’s take a look!

Quality Assurance in Operations with a very human approach

Ugnė reviews onboarding, EDD, and ODD cases to make sure things run smoothly, with high quality and minimal mistakes. Her role in card acquiring services is all about operations support. So, when something is off, she’s not looking for reasons to blame someone. It makes her sad to see anyone slip up whether it’s a top performer or someone newer.

That’s why she spends time talking to specialists, guiding them to the right part of a procedure, or asking questions that help them think through the issue themselves. Ugnė often challenges people by nudging them toward the answer instead of giving it right away.

“Curiosity and independence are the keys to truly learning,” she says.

One of her favourite parts of the job is when a QA evaluation turns into a conversation. Especially when someone challenges her feedback. That’s when real improvement happens, for everyone involved. And when Ugnė misses something? She admits it. “I’m not perfect either I’m allowed to miss things as well. But that’s part of the journey, and I enjoy every step of it.”

For Ugnė, QA is about building confidence, clarity, and shared ownership of doing things right.

Quality Assurance in Risk with structure and attention to detail

While Ugnė focuses on people and processes across the Operations department, Gintarė ensures structure and compliance on the Risk side.

Gintarė started in Transaction Monitoring and now works across Risk Quality Assurance. Her focus includes Transaction Monitoring, Merchant Risk, and Card Scheme Project Management. She looks at how teams follow internal policies and regulatory requirements, and whether things are being done the right way.

In Transaction Monitoring, Gintarė reviews alert handling, monitoring cases, and reports to check that AML/CTF and sanctions standards are met. She also supports Merchant Risk by reviewing things like merchant pre-approvals, collateral reductions, chargeback and fraud cases, and how risk levels are assessed and documented.

For Card Scheme Project Management, her job is to check that every step of a project (from documentation to delivery) meets card scheme expectations.

But on top of internal work, Gintarė also evaluates third-party providers like FeatureSpace and ThetaRay. She checks that they’re delivering what’s expected, that the tools are effective, and they’re not generating too many false positives for analysts to manage.

As Gintarė puts it: “I look at whether a healthy number of alerts are being generated.”

Gintarė’s work helps keep things consistent and helps teams adjust as rules and risk levels change.

Ugnė and Gintarė highlight that in Quality Assurance, the most important thing is helping people feel supported in how they work and improving little things every step of the way before they become big problems.

A future goal for the QA team is to strengthen internal processes, support the development of merchant risk management teams, and help PAYSTRAX keep scaling with confidence. This hands-on, people-first approach is what keeps everything solid.
